ఇంగ్లీష్ భాషలో స్పోకెన్ ఇంగ్లీష్ లో మనం మాట్లాడే విధానాన్ని సోషల్ లాంగ్వేజ్ గా భావించాలి. ఎందుకంటే మానవుడు సంఘజీవి కనుక.
సోషల్ లాంగ్వేజ్ అర్థం ఏమిటంటే....
" The formal language used in the society for speaking is known as social language "
సాధారణమైన, గ్రామరు పరంగా, వాక్య నిర్మాణ పరంగా పలకరింపులు జరుగుతూ ఉంటాయి. వాటిని వివిధ సందర్భాలలో సందర్భానుసారంగా ఉపయోగించుకుంటుంటాము. వీటినే సోషల్ లాంగ్వేజెస్ అంటారు.
వాటిలో మొదటగా ముఖ్యమైనది ‘గ్రీటింగ్ ’ అంటే...పలకరింపు అన్న మాట. దీనిని ఎలా ఉపయోగిస్తామో చూద్దాం....!!
Greetings :
There are three kinds of Greetings.
They are :
1. Greetings at the time of meeting
2. Greetings at the time of leaving
3. Occasional Greetings
వీటిని ప్రధానంగా విశదంగా చూద్దాము :
I. Greetings at the time of Meeting :
The words used on seeing some one is called greetings at the time of meeting.
1. Good Morning : It is a polite greeting when people first see each other in the morning. It can be greeted until 12 'O' clock in the noon.
In informal use the greeting Goodmorning is often shortened, to just morning.
The same greeting is given in reply.
2. Good Afternoon : It can be greeted from midday (12 'O' clock noon) to about 6 p.m or sunset (if this is earlier)
3. Good Evening : It can be greeted between the afternoon and bed time.
4. Hello (also Hallo, Hullo) : It can be greeted to any one. It is used in greeting, or to attract attention or express surprise, or to answer a telephone call)
a) Hello, How are you ?
b) Hello, can you hear me ?
c) Hello, is that Mr. Venkat's house ?
d) Hello sir, how are you ?
5. Hi (hai) - (British) Hey : It is an informal way of greeting. It is greeted to close friends.
6. How are you ?
I am fine,
Thank you
7. How do you do ?
How do you do - The meaning of 'How do you do' is Hello.
It is used when we get introduced with a new person for the first time in our life.
8. Nice to meet you
9. Happy to meet you
10. Glad to meet you
